Overview

Knowlegis offers weekly basic training classes to help familiarize new customers to the product.  The overview training lasts approximately 30 minutes and covers the essentials for using your new Knowlegis site.  You should leave this training with a basic understanding of Knowlegis, and how to integrate Knowlegis into your government relations operation in a way that will reduce your administrative burdens and enhance your advocacy efforts.

Audience

This program is appropriate for all government relations professionals:  new Knowlegis customers, new staff members in the organization, and executives who would like to see what tools and information they have available to them.

Agenda

You will learn how to:

  • Search data on Federal and state elected officials and Congressional staff
  • Set up Knowlegis Mobile service for Blackberry® or other handheld devices
  • Build lists for staff emails, mail merges, My Agenda, and your Alert Center
  • Create “Connections” and “Lobbyist Notes” to develop a customized database and advocate relationships with legislators
  • Use the Advocacy Event Manager tool to help organize your Lobby/Hill Days
  • Run and analyze reports of lobbyist and advocate activity

Using Knowlegis to Effectively Communicate with Congressional Staff and Legislators

Overview

This program will enhance government relations professionals’ communications capabilities, allowing participants to quickly generate e-mails, letters, and faxes to policy makers.  This program will teach customers how to create searches and lists to be used sending email to congressional staff, creating mail merge letters and labels, and integrating lists into the  Alert Center and My Agenda features.  Participants will learn a step-by-step process of creating a list and sending out an email to that list, and will also highlight the best practices for communicating with staff and legislators.  Afterward we will also review the various reporting capabilities, including how to determine how many recipients opened the email and which links they followed.

Audience

This program is most appropriate for administrative and government relations staff who are tasked with list building and sending communications to legislators and staff.

Agenda

You will learn how to:

  • Create and save searches and lists for Congressional staff emails, downloading data files, and mail merges
  • Upload attachments and graphics to be included with email to congressional staff
  • Operate the Knowlegis HTML editor to create attractive, branded communications
  • Create fax coversheets for legislators and staff

Using Knowlegis to Build Grasstops Networks

Overview

Grasstops network training will help you build your grasstops network, allowing you to activate key influential constituents and connect them with policy makers.  Participants will learn how to collect data from their membership on key relationships with lawmakers, customize note and connection types to fit the issues that you or your clients are working on.  Learn more about reporting functions in order to pull data and reports regarding your notes and connections, so that you can create successful legislative strategies.  Also, discover how you can use your own internal information to store asset mapping information on legislator profile pages, so that you can demonstrate to lawmakers the “political footprint” you have in their district or state.

Audience

This program is appropriate for all government relations professionals.  It is especially valuable to staff who help with grassroots or grasstops network building.

  • Add “Connections” between your advocates/members and legislators
  • Add “Lobbyist Notes” to legislator profile pages

Using Knowlegis to Manage Successful Fly-ins

Overview

The Advocacy Event Manager training will detail the process of setting up and managing your fly-in from start to finish.  Learn how to use Knowlegis to cut down on administrative time and effort, as well as streamlining the process for your advocates by providing them with the tools and resources that will enhance their effectiveness in advancing your legislative agenda.

Audience

This program is appropriate for anyone involved in your organization’s fly-in efforts.  While not all of your fly-in staff may be expected to use Knowlegis, it is valuable for all staff to understand its capabilities so that fly-in planning and execution can be maximized using Knowlegis.

Agenda

You will learn how to:

  • Create an event in Knowlegis
  • Add appointments available to view and manage in one easy location
  • Develop customized Appointment Feedback forms that outlines questions for advocates to discuss with Congressional staff, appointment and legislator information, and Capitol Hill maps
  • Collect and manage event feedback into useful reports
  • Track your connections in Knowlegis
  • Apply best practices and cases for enhancing your fly-in efforts

Using Knowlegis to Connect Supporters to Legislators at Town Hall Meetings

Overview

Please note: This training requires that customers have both Capwiz XC and Knowlegis.  The new Town Hall Meeting Action Alerts connects the Knowlegis database of town hall meetings to your grassroots advocates in your Capwiz XC database.  For the first time, you can easily match up your supporters with Members of Congress on theirhome turf.  This new tool makes it easy to merge town hall meeting details into the Capwiz XC mail manager so that you can notify your advocates of face time opportunities with their legislators.   This innovative feature is only available in the Knowlegis and CapwizXC system.

Audience

This training is appropriate for all government relations staff.  It is most appropriate for staff tasked with interacting with grassroots supporters, or for coordinating grassroots and Washington lobbying efforts.

You will learn how to:

  • Locate town hall meeting information within Knowlegis
  • Use the Capwiz XC Mail Manager to merge in town hall meeting information specific to your advocates’ Congressional district

Using Knowlegis to Monitor Your Legislative Agenda

Overview

The Knowlegis Alert Center and My Agenda features allow you and your staff to create customized email alerts or your own personal government relations home page.  Both features offer information from Congressional staff changes to organization press releases and allow the user to select their own criteria for the data helpful to his/her specific position.

Audience

This program is ideal for light computer users, who may not spend much time in front of computers, but who want only relevant information related to their issues. 

Agenda

You will learn how to:

  • Use new or previously related lists to narrow search results
  • Use the Alert Center to create regular email alerts based on your personal criteria and saved searches/lists. 
  • Create your own personal My Agenda page that displays a variety of information from the Knowlegis database as well as outside RSS feeds from other publications and resources

Overview

Knowlegis Asset Manager training will help you transform your activist data into visually compelling maps that measure legislative activity and impact. Participants will learn how to catalog data from their membership database, define geographic boundaries by districts or states, and produce maps. Also, discover how you can use your own internal information to store asset mapping information on legislator profile pages, so that you can demonstrate to lawmakers the “political footprint” you have in their district or state.

Audience

This training is appropriate for all government relations staff. It is most appropriate for staff tasked with tracking grassroots activity, or for coordinating grassroots and Washington lobbying efforts.
